Steel-finished hex nuts come in several main grades:
- Grade 2 Finished Hex Nuts: These cost-effective hex nuts use low-carbon steel and work with standard bolts rated for 74,000 psi or less.
- Grade 5 Finished Hex Nuts: Featuring a manganese and carbon steel alloy, Grade 5 hex nuts offer 109,000-120,000 psi (for 1/4” to 1” sizes) of tensile strength.
- Grade 8 Finished Hex Nuts: These heavy-duty nuts use medium-carbon alloy steel that undergoes quenching and tempering for a minimum tensile strength of 150,000 psi.
Stainless steel hex nuts offer exceptional corrosion- and moisture-resistance (316 edges out 18-8) for industrial applications.
