EPDM, NBR, Fluorine Rubber, & Chloroprene Rubber Heat Exchanger Gaskets
With Brazos Fasteners, finding the right gasket for your heat exchanger and application doesn’t need to be stressful or difficult. As a heat exchanger gaskets supplier, we have more than 30 years of experience working with fasteners for a range of industries and applications.
Material Options from a Heat Exchanger Gaskets Supplier
The gasket is an important part of the plate heat exchanger, as it seals two heat exchange plates and ensures there are no leaks in the equipment. There are different materials and shapes for heat exchanger gaskets, each having different functions. Gaskets for heat exchangers can be manufactured in metal or alloy with a thickness 0,4 mm featuring a soft core inside a metallic jacket. Traditionally double-jacketed gaskets for heat exchangers are manufactured with integrated bars. There is a radius between the bars and an internal diameter of the gaskets. The material categories for gaskets include:
- EPDM Heat Exchanger Gaskets
- NBR Heat Exchanger Gaskets
- Fluorine rubber Heat Exchanger Gaskets
- Chloroprene rubber Heat Exchanger Gaskets
A majority of the gaskets chosen for plate heat exchangers use EPDM and NBR. These materials can withstand temperatures between -20 degrees Celsius and 165 degree Celsius. They are affordable but don’t sacrifice quality and functionality. These materials have advantages with long service life and multiple applications.
Which Materials Are Good for Specific Applications?
As a heat exchanger gasket distributor, we offer several material options. Select a material with the durability to resist damage from both pressure and tightening force, as well as temperature fluctuations.
EPDM is effective in brine, air, seawater, lye, and other solutions but shouldn’t be used with mineral oil or non-polar materials. Nitrile rubber can handle low temperatures and uses with petroleum, lubricating oil, fuel oil, and more.
