Wedge, Screw, L-Shaped, & Adhesive Anchors
Mechanical and adhesive anchors for concrete are broadly used across many different industries such as construction, refining, oil & gas, transportation, telecommunication, and energy production. Concrete anchors are installed either pre-pour or into existing concrete depending on the type of anchor being employed. These anchors are designed to provide a solid point to fasten items to a concrete structure.
Types of Concrete Anchors
Below is a list of several types of concrete anchors that Brazos Fasteners keeps in stock for immediate purchase.
Wedge Anchors: Wedge Anchors are mechanical anchors designed for use in existing concrete. They are a common choice for heavier load applications, as they are one of the strongest types of concrete anchor bolts and easy to work with. Wedge anchors are widely used across various industries including construction, oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, and energy production. Brazos Fasteners carries a full line of Simpson Strong-Tie wedge anchors in assorted diameters and lengths in materials such as zinc-plated carbon steel, galvanized carbon steel, 304 stainless steel, and 316 stainless steel.
Screw Anchors: Simpson Strong-Tie manufactures a heavy-duty screw anchor called the “Titen HD” which is suitable for various applications, including sill plates, ledgers, post bases, seating, and holdown purposes. It can be easily removed and used in temporary applications such as bracing and formwork or when a fixture needs to be relocated. The anchor is available in carbon steel that is mechanically galvanized or zinc plated, as well as 304 and 316 stainless steel.
Epoxy/Adhesive Anchors: Epoxy and adhesive products are industrial materials most commonly used to install mechanical anchors or rods into existing concrete. We carry high-quality epoxy and adhesives from reputable brands like HILTI and Simpson Strong-Tie. Typically the key factors in a successful installation include the proper embedment depth, the diameter of the pilot hole, and choosing the proper epoxy or adhesive based on the site conditions at time of installation. Adhesive fillers such as Hilti HY 200 (Simpson AT-3G) work in both wet and dry conditions and also offer a quicker cure time. An epoxy filler such as Hilti RE 500 (Simpson Set-3G) can work in various site conditions including where completely submerged. The epoxy allows for more flexibility, however, does require a longer cure time.
L-Shaped Anchors: L-Type Anchors are galvanized carbon steel round bars, bent in the shape of an “L,” and are partially threaded on the longer leg. They are designed to be embedded before concrete is poured around them so that the threaded section is exposed after the concrete has cured. We carry a complete list of stock lengths and diameters.
